Cool Reggae First Dance Songs
Things getting out of hand after a first dance at The Coppermines Lake District Wedding Barn
We love a bit of reggae but it’s not always the most popular choice for a first dance. With so many songs with a laid-back, upbeat vibe there is plenty of a choice for a first dance!
Marcia Griffiths - Don’t Let Me Down
“I'm in love for the first time
Don't you know it's gonna last?”
It’s a Beatles classic with a chorus that everyone can sing along and dance too. Just watch out for those bars of 5/4.
Bob Marley - Is This Love?
“I wanna love you
And treat you right
I wanna love you
Every day and every night”
A beautiful showcase of the softer side of Bob Marley. Perfect for a first newlywed slow dance without being overly soppy and one that your guests will want to join you on the dancefloor. Ideal if you are the sort to not want the awkward attention of the first dance for too long.
The Paragons - The tide is high
“I’m gonna be your number one”
Something a bit more uptempo if that’s your thing. Everybody has their own entry point with this one whether it is The Paragons, Blondie or even Atomic Kitten. It’s pretty short so if you’re keen to crack on and get the party started then it could be the song for you.
Madness - It must be love
“I've got to be near you
Every night, every day
I couldn't be happy
Any other way”
Maybe this one is a bit of stretch stylistically but Madness have got enough ska and two tone cred to be included here. There are some lovely lyrics that are ideal for a wedding and a cool saxophone solo thrown in there too.
Why keep reggae to just the first dance? We’ve got plenty of reggae in our locker and you can check it out here.
